Our Services and Frequently Asked Questions-
What services does Midwifery care include?
I believe that birth matters and the journey of birth strengthens individual mothers, fathers and babies and the bonds between them. I promote the Midwives Model of Care, providing:
Do you accept insurance?
Yes and No. Insurance can be billed for a portion of your care such as Laboratory fees and Ultrasound fees, but will not cover the rest of your care. With the exception of Health Share Ministries most private insurance companies will not pay for Home Birth. However, a “Superbill” can be issued to you at the end of your care and the amount paid can be applied to your deductible, even though we are out of network.
Contact for more info and to obtain a "Verification of Benefits" to understand exactly what your insurance will cover.
Payment plans are available, and we offer a sliding scale plan to help make care accessible for those who need the help.
We are also a provider with Care Credit which can offer deferred interest, long term repayment plan options.
Who is a good candidate for Homebirth?
Are there conditions that would prevent me from having a Homebirth?
Yes. Medical conditions that may disqualify a woman from safely having a home birth with a licensed midwife include, but are not limited to, cardiac disease, diabetes, hepatitis B, high blood pressure, substance abuse, blood clotting disorders, and seizure disorders.
Additionally, certain conditions that may arise during pregnancy could necessitate a transfer of care to a hospital physician. These include, but are not limited to, active genital herpes, a baby with a known congenital defect, uncontrolled gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, anemia, placenta previa, preeclampsia, preterm rupture of membranes or labor (before 37 weeks), and Rh-negative blood with positive antibodies.
If I had a previous C-section, can I still attempt a Homebirth?
Yes! Around 75% of women who have had a previous C-section can successfully achieve a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). I have supported many successful VBACs both at home and in the hospital. During your consultation, we can explore the risks and benefits of VBAC and assess if you are a suitable candidate for a home VBAC.
Can my other children come to my prenatal appointments?
Absolutely! Siblings are welcome at all prenatal visits and during the home birth. I have a large toy area in my office to keep children entertained while we meet. If you choose to have your other children present at the birth, please ensure that you have a reliable caretaker (not your partner) at home who is solely responsible for caring for them, allowing you and your partner to focus on the delivery. Beyond that, you are free to include anyone else you wish. The key is that you feel completely comfortable and at ease with everyone present, as this can greatly influence your birthing experience.
